Let’s talk about the difference between consignment and buy outright (BOR).
In a consignment model, the seller (you) entrusts your items to Bougie June’s (us) to sell them on your behalf. Items are priced with a balance in mind of getting the most out of your items at a price that is still a great deal for our buyers. For any items that do not sell, you would not receive any money, neither would our store, and you can pick your items back up at the end of the consignment period if you’d like.
In a BOR model, you would bring your items to the store for cash or check on the spot. The store assumes all of the risk. We would look through your items and provide you an offer for the items we wish to take. Because there is a high likelihood of not all items selling, you are likely to be offered less for your items than if you consigned them.

Pros:
- Higher payout to you
- If your item has not sold by the end of the consignment period, you have the option to come to the store and retrieve it
Cons:
- You must wait for an item to sell before you receive any money
- You will need to return to the store to pick up your money (although, we think you’ll be glad you did!)
Who is Consignment best for? Consignment is great for sellers that are looking to maximize the amount of money they get out of their items. The slight inconvenience of waiting for the sale and returning to pick up the funds is worth it for the extra cash.
Buy Outright (BOR)
Pros:
- Get money on the spot with no wait
- Be rid of your items without a second thought. Simply bring them in, let us take a look while you wait, and we will provide you an offer for your items.
Cons:
- Payouts are likely to be less than you would get if you had consigned them
Who is Buy Outright best for? BOR is great for sellers who just want to make room in their closet and are happy to get some money on the spot just to be done with it.
